Athletic Development

Athletic development describes the qualities required by athletes in the context of maturation and the sport involved.

Specifically, this includes:
  • Speed, including running mechanics, acceleration and agility.
  • Strength, including general strength, elastic strength and strength endurance.
  • Endurance, including aerobic and anaerobic functions.

As strength and conditioning coaches, our role is to develop a strategy for the athlete to overcome limitations in athletic, functional and training development.

A carefully thought out plan will enable the athlete to progress the qualities required for the sport, maintain the desire to continue in their sport, minimise injury and create a sense of general wellbeing.
